Fergus Falls scored the first 13 points of the game on Thursday night at St. Cloud Apollo, led 44-14 at the half and ran their winning streak to nine games with a 70-39 victory over the Eagles.  With the win the Otters improved to 12-3 overall and 8-2 in the Central Lakes Conference.

Apollo turned the ball over on their first seven possessions of the night and the Otters capitalized on their 18 first half turnovers to build an insurmountable lead.  Tori Ratz buried her first four 3’s of the night and finished with 5 3’s and 19 points.  Ellie Colbeck led all scorers with 21 points, dished out 9 assists, delivered 6 steals and grabbed 5 rebounds.  Paige Pearson had a team high 7 boards, Emily Nuss snared 5 and Anna Anderson had 4 as the Otters won the rebounding battle, 31-19.

“Great first half for the Otters,” stated Head Coach Brad Strand.  “The girls’ distributed the ball well and we were able to create some easy scoring opportunities for every player dressed tonight.”

The Eagles placed two players in double figures, led by 13 from Serenetie Jackson-Banks and 12 from Keshona McGaughy.

Fergus Falls will host the top two teams in the CLC next week with Willmar coming in on Monday night and Alexandria on Thursday.  The only two conference losses for the Otters came against the two Cardinal teams. The Otters will play their final regular season game on Saturday, March 13 at home against Bemidji.

“We have a big week ahead (Cardinal Week),” noted Strand. “We are looking forward to the chance to earn some revenge on earlier losses.  Both teams are very good!”
