Otter Boys Defeat Brainerd 4-3 for Tenth Straight Win

A three goal second period helped lead the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team to their tenth straight win on Tuesday night as they handed the Brainerd Warriors a 4-3 loss in Brainerd.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Alex Jones at 14:19 of the opening period.

The Otters pulled even 2:34 into the second on a goal by Isaac Young, assisted by Owen Babolian.  Jones gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead with his second goal of the night, assisted by Max Roby at 5:26.  A power play goal by Matthew Niblock ad 8:24 pulled the Otters even at 2-2.  Andrew Johnson earned the assist on the goal.  A short handed tally by Young broke the tie with Michael DeBrito assisting at 15:18.

A goal at 2:10 by Ares Soukop brought Brainerd into a 3-3 tie with Andrew Zuk assisting.  Forty-six seconds later DeBrito scored from Young to break the tie and the Otters were able to hold on for the win.

Goalie Ben Swanson stopped 32 Brainerd shots on goal and Fergus Falls put 28 shots on the Brainerd net.

Fergus Falls (10-1) will play at Sartell on Thursday night.
