17-0 First Half Run Sparks Trojans to Win Over Frazee

Trailing 11-9 midway through the first half, the Barnesville Trojans went on a 17-0 run and took a 36-16 halftime lead against the Frazee Hornets on Friday night.  Barnesville added to their lead in the second half and finished with a 79-54 win.

 

“We got off to a slow start, but we got some great play off the bench to spark us,” said Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz.  “We played phenomenal ‘D’ and got good spurts from a lot of different people.”

Logan Ernst came off the bench to hit a pair of 3’s during the first half run and finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds on the night.  Adam Tonsfeldt had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, Kaden Zenzen finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Jack Nielsen contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.  Cam Heng assisted on 4 baskets and Noah Krause and Wyatt Suter had 3 assists each.  Barnesville assisted on 24 of their 30 made baskets.

The Trojans shot 39% (30-76) from the field and made 12-of-16 free throws.  Frazee made 40% (22-55) of their field goal attempts but only hit 1-of-17 from behind the arc.  Barnesville held a 46-35 edge on the boards and forced 23 turnovers.

No Frazee stats were reported.

Barnesville (6-3) will play at Perham on Thursday before hosting East Grand Forks on Saturday afternoon.

Frazee (5-6) is at Park Rapids on Tuesday.
