Knights use strong bench play in win over Park Christian

The West Central Area Knights took a 36-18 lead into halftime in a 69-44 win over the Park Christian Falcons on Friday night in Barrett behind some strong bench play.

 

Grant Beuckens led the Knights with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals; Xander Bontjes came off the bench to score 13 points and grabbed 2 rebounds; and Brady Reeve was also in double figures with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

Ryder Staples chipped in with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists; Tate Christenson had 8 points and 5 rebounds; and Cole Anderson had 3 points and led the team in rebounding with 6 along with 2 assists and 2 steals.

Joining Bontjes with strong bench contributions was Jacob Strunk with 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals; Cam Anderson had 3 points, a rebound and 1 assist. Nasir Dotts had 1 point, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal; Roman Mihailovschi had 3 points and a rebound. Peyton Hanson had 2 rebounds, Isaac Kreft had 1 rebound and 3 steals, Damon Sanstead had one steal.

"Xander gave us the spark we've been looking for and our other bench players all contributed more than the stats show as we are trying to develop some depth going into the second half of the season," said Knight Coach Kraig Hunter.  "All fifteen guys contributed to the win."

The Knights shot 26-59 for 44% and they nailed 10-27 threes.  They made 7-of-12 free throws.  The Falcons were 16-48 from the field for 33% and hit 3-8 threes and 9-17 free throws.  The Knights outrebounded the Falcons 35-30.

Scoring for the Falcons were Max Albrecht 11, Alex Strom 7, Austin Carlson 7, Isaiah Tofibam 6, Caden Larson 6, Ryley Erkenbrack 4, Cole Wyland 2 and Caleb Kern 1.
