Ashby hosted Underwood in a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball game on Friday night with the Arrows building a 38-20 halftime lead on the way to a 63-42 victory over the Rockets.  Ashby won the rebounding battle, 44-30 and hit 43% (25-57) of their field goal attempts on the night, compared to 31% (16-51) shooting for Underwood.

Ashby had 3 players in double figures, led by Hunter Norby with 13 points. Jacob Cook and Torin Olson each added 12.  Cook finished with a team high 4 assists.  Jaden Norby had 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, Miles Hoff, Carson Spangler and Zach Buck each had 5 rebounds, and Ashton Ecker blocked two shots.

“We experienced firsthand what we’ve seen on film, the Rockets are much improved,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Hats off to their players and coaches.”

The Rockets were led by Krosby Aasness with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

“Ashby took advantage of our mistakes late in the first half and took the momentum away from us,” stated Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  “That swing was tough to recover from.  They are a very solid team and we played hard right to the final buzzer.”

Ashby is off to a 10-0 start.  They will travel to Rothsay on Tuesday to take on the Tigers.

Underwood has two home games coming up this week, starting with West Central Area on Tuesday and then Parkers Prairie on Friday.
