O'Kane Stops 32 Shots to Lead Alexandria Past Moorhead 3-1

The Alexandria girls’ hockey team scored a pair of first period goals and made them stand up for a 3-1 win over the Moorhead Spuds on Tuesday night at the Moorhead Sports Center.

Ali Castle got the scoring started with a goal at 6:48 of the first period, assisted by Ella Johnston and Hanley Block.  A goal by Lauren Maras at 9:20 made it 2-0, with assists going to Makenna Aure and Anna Doherty.

The second period was scoreless and at 2:44 of the third Moorhead cut the lead in half with a goal from Ava Kistner, setup by Maiah AanensonMarki Oberg got that one back less than a minute later when she scored from Ella Westlund and Block at 3:19 and the Cardinals held on for the 3-1 victory.

Moorhead put 33 shots on goal, however, Jordan O’Kane turned aside 32 of them.  Alexandria registered 25 shots on the Moorhead net.

Alexandria (5-4-1) will be in Buffalo on Saturday for a 7:00pm game with Buffalo/Maple Lake.
