Otter Boys Claim Eighth Straight Win

Cole Zierden broke a 2-2 tie with a goal 11:01 into the third period on Tuesday night as the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team registered a 3-2 victory over St. Cloud Cathedral at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.  Colin Becker picked up an assist on the game winner.  Fergus Falls finished with a 41-34 edge in shots on goal in the game.  Ben Swanson stopped 32 shots by the Crusaders to earn the win in the Fergus Falls net.

Following a scoreless first period the Crusaders got on the board just 1:02 into the second on an unassisted shorthanded goal by Cullen Hiltner.  The Otters pulled even when Michael DeBrito scored from Isaac Young and Carter Thielke just 18 seconds later.  Fergus Falls gained a 2-1 advantage on a power play goal by Thielke, assisted by Young and Ian Richards at 7:11 of the period.

Cathedral tied the game 1:43 into the third when Chandler Hendricks scored from Collin Hess.

With the win, Fergus Falls improves to 8-1 on the season.  They will play at Alexandria on Thursday night. The Cardinals are the only team to have beaten the Otters this season as they won 5-4 on opening night.
