The West Central Area Knights held the Brandon-Evansville Chargers to only eight total field goals and 30 points in a 60-30 win on Thursday night.  The Chargers were 8-32 from the field including 4-19 threes.  They did get to the line and made 10-17 free throws.  The Knights shot 42% on 24-57 shooting and made 7-10 threes and 5-10 free throws.  The Knights held a slight 32-27 edge on the boards.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We were pleased with our defense again but the area we made the biggest strides in tonight was taking care of the ball as we had a season low four turnovers and that led to many possessions with good unselfish passing giving us good looks.  Basketball is fun when you share the ball, we liked the unselfish team play."

The Knights had many contributors again led by Ryder Staples with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Brady Reeve had 15 points and 5 rebounds, Grant Beuckens was also in double figures with 10 points, 6 steals and 5 assists."

Hunter said, "Grant also did not turn the ball over once all night. He played a great game for a point guard distributing the ball, getting our team to execute stuff, and being a vocal leader on the defensive end."

Cole Anderson added 5 points and 4 rebounds, Tate Christenson had 3 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals; Xander Bontjes had 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists; Cam Anderson had 2 points and 2 rebounds, Isaac Kreft 2 points and 1 rebound and Jacob Strunk had 1 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.

"We got to play 15 players tonight and even though they didn't all score, we had contributions from all of them. It was a good team win," concluded Hunter.

Scoring for the Chargers were Titus Fuller with 10, Tyler Bitzan 7, Kobe Reiland 5, Brian Lauthen 4, and Desmond White 4.
West Central Area (5-2) will host Park Christian School on Friday, February 19.

"We were up 14-12 with 7 minutes left to play in the 1st half, then the wheels fell off," said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. "We controlled the tempo and played pretty good defense in those first 11 minutes. We ran good offense and got great looks. We communicated and were good teammates. After that we got tired, lazy, and didn't show composure after they made a couple shots. I know I've said it a lot, but we really are getting better each day. We have guys who are starting to understand what it takes to be good at the varsity level. I need to be a better coach and get our guys ready to play a complete 36 minutes. I know our kids believe in each other, we just have to get everyone believing in themselves."

Brandon-Evansville (4-5) is at home against Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night.
