The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team held Crookston to just seven second half points on Monday night as they recorded a 70-34 home court victory over the Pirates.

Ian Fahje (12 points, 9 rebounds) just missed and double-double and was joined in double digits by Hunter Williams, who scored 12 points.  Jayden Rutherford and Liam Sytsma added 9 points each, with Sytsma also blocking four shots.  Brayden Ecker finished with 8 points, 5 assists and 5 blocks, Logan Fahje had 7 points and a team high 10 rebounds, and McHale Korf contributed 5 points and 5 assists.

“We had a better effort overall tonight from our guys as I thought we did a nice job of making the extra pass offensively to generate some easy looks which is why we had great scoring balance as a team,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “We also played much more solid defensively, especially in the second half. We took some steps in the right direction but will need two great days of practice before facing Hawley on Thursday night.”

The Vikings improved to 4-3 overall and have a 2-3 record in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
