Jaden Norby recorded a double-double by grabbing a team high eleven rebounds to go with his 12 points and Jacob Cook just missed a double-double with 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Ashby Arrows to a 79-44 win in Battle Lake on Friday night.  It was the Arrows sixth straight win.

Torin Olson scored 17 of his 23 points in the first half and was a key player in the Arrows fast start as they jumped out to a 15-2 lead on the way to a 43-22 halftime advantage.  Olson dished out four assists on the night.  Hunter Norby had 13 points and retrieved five of the Arrows 15 offensive rebounds.

“It was important for the boys to get off to a quick start tonight,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Battle Lake executes their offense at a very high level and made us work hard to guard them.”

“We faced a tough task tonight in trying to contain a hot Ashby team who went into the game undefeated,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach Tyler Owen. “The Battlers were ice cold in the first half, missing shot after shot, but I was pleased with the shots that the team attempted as most of them were high percentage shots, but we could not take the lid off the basket. Poor shooting led to lackadaisical defense in the half-court as we gave up 43 first half points. Part of our game plan was to limit the amount of open shots that Ashby guard Torin Olson would get during the game, Olson found ways to get open, and he made us pay.

Brady VanErp played one of his best games of the season, finishing with 15 points to lead the Battlers.

The Battlers made a nice run early in the second half after making good reads in the half-court offense, but Battle Lake's defensive struggles continued in the second half as they allowed too many easy buckets for the Arrows.

“While there was obvious improvement offensively tonight, we just simply didn't stick to the defensive game plan, and that ultimately led to a big loss,” noted Coach Owen.

Ashby (6-0, 4-0 LEC) will go on the road to face Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday night.

Battle Lake (1-6) will play at Rothsay on Tuesday.
