The Breckenridge boys’ basketball team defeated Barnesville in overtime by a score of 61-59 on Tuesday night. The halftime score was 37-28, Trojans.

Leading scorers for the Cowboys were Cooper Yaggie with 22, Sebastian Anderson with 17, and Jonah Christensen with 13. Leading in rebounds were Anderson with 11 and Christensen with 9. Jr Perez added 4 assists and Anderson had 4 steals.

"Tonight, the Cowboys showed a ton of toughness and heart to battle back from a large first half deficit,” said Breckenridge Assistant Coach Derek Grahn.  “We battled some foul troubles early and struggled to get things going offensively but were able to make some halftime adjustments with a change in our defensive scheme. Sebastian was huge for us tonight and Jonah hit an incredible shot with only 3.8 seconds left to send us to overtime. Guys played for each other tonight and it was a great win against a Barnesville team that looks to be near the top of the section this season.”

Barnesville was led by Adam Tonsfeldt (20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals), Kaden Zenzen (11 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists) and Noah Krause (10 points, 2 rebounds).  Cam Heng compiled 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a game high 7 steals.  Barnesville shot 38% (24-62) from the field, won the rebounding battle 36-32, but turned the ball over 16 times compared to 7 for the Cowboys.

On Saturday, the Cowboys (5-0) will take on Wahpeton over at the Wahpeton High School in the annual Pink Game.

“Our entire Cowboy family wants to wish our best to Kenzie Christensen and we hope the community will support her in her upcoming battles," said Grahn.

Barnesville (2-2) is at Hawley on Friday night.
