Otter Girls Earn Season Split with River Lakes

The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team avenged an earlier 6-0 loss to River Lakes by taking a 4-1 victory over the Stars on Tuesday night at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.

The Otters scored three times in the first period and never looked back.  A power play goal by Ellie Andersen got things started at 14:38.  The goal was assisted by Piper Andrews and Jadyn Bye.  At 7:57, Desi Maack scored from Lizzy Moxness and Skye Norgren.  River Lakes got a goal from Kianna Roeske at 6:25 to cut the Otters lead in half.  Paige Blattner assisted on the goal.  The Fergus Falls lead increased to 3-1 when Andrews found the back of the net off an assist from Talia Nelson.

After a scoreless second period the Otters scored the final goal of the night in the third period when Andrews scored from Andersen and Maddie Hulter.

“Great section win for the girls tonight,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Piper was again all over the ice, netting two more.  Desi scored off a great fore-check effort and having Talia Nelson back has given this team a whole new level of compete.

Fergus Falls put 27 shots on the River Lakes net and Ana Jyrkas stopped 22 shot on the Otter net.
