Ben Swanson stopped all 11 shots he faced on Saturday afternoon and the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team put 48 shots on Wadena-Deer Creek goalie Josh Dykhoff as the Otters posted a 5-0 shutout victory over the Wolverines at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.

Five different players scored goals for Fergus Falls and eight players recorded at least one point.

Following a scoreless first period that saw the Otters muster only 8 shots on goal, their offense picked up the pace with three second period goals on 20 shots.  Isaac Young got the scoring started at 10:18 of the second period, assisted by Michael DeBrito and Colton Partain.  Young and Carter Thielke then assisted on a DeBrito power play goal at 11:40, and the Otters added a power play goal by Thielke at 15:12, setup by Cole Zierden and Young.

The Otters added goals by the Johnson brothers in the third period as Isaac Johnson scored just 25 seconds into the period, assisted by Partain, and Andrew Johnson netted the Otters third power play goal of the game at 11:54 with assists from Matthew Niblock and Zierden.

Fergus Falls (4-1) has won four straight games.  Their Tuesday contest with River Lakes has been postponed due to COVID restrictions impacting River Lakes.  The Otters will host St. Cloud on Thursday night.
