The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team remained undefeated in the Little Eight Conference with a 73-48 victory over the Hillcrest Comets.  The Arrows held a 41-24 lead at halftime.

Jaden Norby (23 pts, 11 reb, 4ast, 1stl) led all scorers.  Three others, Jacob Cook (16 pts, 10 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk), Hunter Norby (13 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk), and Torin Olson (11 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast) reached double figures.  Derrek Bartz almost made it five Arrows in double figures netting eight points.  Ashton Ecker (4 reb, 4 ast, 1 stl), Carson Spangler (2 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast, 4 stl), Bobby Anderson and Miles Hoff also made valuable contributions.

“The balanced scoring was critical to the team's success tonight,” commented Ashby Head Coach John Holsten. “Jaden Norby finished plays around the basket at a very high level and did his best Aaron Rodgers impression igniting Arrow fast breaks with pinpoint passing.  Coach Garvin has a team loaded with classy athletes that compete on every possession.  They play the game the right way.  They're just going to keep getting better and better.”

Sam Brumfield led the Comets with 13 points.  Joel Quam scored 11 and Micah Foss at 10.  Noah Brumfield finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

“Coach Holsten has his team playing so well together,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin.  “They move the ball so well, play with a strong confidence and defend well together.  It was, in many respects, another tale of two halves for us.  I thought, comparative to our first few games, we were much more patient on the offensive end.  But we only scored one basket in the first 13 possessions and missed some contested, but makeable attempts in the paint.  We finished the last few minutes of the half well and played the second half with more poise, but we didn’t really have much of an answer for Norby tonight.  Both he and Cook got a lot of easy looks in the paint.”

The Arrows are 4-0 overall.  Next up is a trip Tuesday evening to Wheaton to take on the WHN Warriors.

Hillcrest (2-3) will play at Hancock on Monday night and go to Evansville on Thursday for a Little Eight Conference contest with Brandon-Evansville.
