Brandon-Evansville traveled to Rothsay for a Little Eight Conference showdown and it didn’t disappoint. The Chargers took a 21-16 halftime lead to in to half, but the Tigers kept battling back.

With 20 seconds remaining Colby Larson scored on a layup to tie the game.  The Tigers went on to create a turnover the next possession, only to throw it away back to the Chargers.  As time ran out Titus Fuller pulled up from 30 feet to win the game at the buzzer for Brandon-Evansville, 43-40.

“I thought our guys played really hard for 36 minutes,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  “We didn’t play pretty, but we made important plays when we needed them most. Kobe Reiland went 4 for 4 from the foul line and made some big buckets for us tonight. Tyler Bitzan wasn’t just our leading scorer, but once again was a do-it-all player. Titus has put so much time into being a good basketball player, and I couldn’t be happier for him and our team. We look forward to more opportunities next week to continue improving.”

Tyler Bitzan scored a team high 14 points and Kobe Reiland added 10 points.  Fuller finished with 8 and Riley Perleberg had 6 points.

“I’m proud of how our boys battled in the second half when things weren’t going well for us,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “B/E plays extremely physical and hard and we didn’t match that in the first half.  I thought the boys played with a lot more effort in the second half.  It just came down to us not make free throws throughout the entire game, and the Chargers making some big plays when they needed to”

Rothsay was 4-18 from the free throw line and 2-21 from 3 point range.  Colby Larson led the Tigers with 16 points. Jett Kulack had 10 points and Tanner Heier finished with 9 points.

Brandon-Evansville (3-2) will host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Monday night.  The Chargers are 3-1 in conference play.

Rothsay (2-3) is at Park Christian School in Moorhead on Tuesday for a non-conference contest.
