Three Otters Score Hat Tricks in 14-0 Win Over Breck/Wahp

Three Otters recorded hat tricks on Tuesday night as the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team put 66 shots on goal in a dominating 14-0 win over Breckenridge/Wahpeton.  Freshman Kellen Stenstrom got his first varsity goal and went on to score two more to record one of the hat tricks.  He was joined by Cole Zierden and Michael DeBrito with 3 goals each.  Zierden finished with a five point night.

Stenstrom got the scoring started at 2:27 of the opening period with an assist from Logen Schake.  At 3:30 DeBrito scored from Zierden and Isaac Young and DeBrito’s second goal at 11:40 was assisted by Owen Babolian and Sterling Andrews.

In the second period the Otters scored eight goals, starting with an unassisted tally by Colton Partain at 2:36.  At 4:51 Zierden scored from Matthew Niblock.  Schake scored from Andrews and Ian Richards at 10:09 starting a six goal flurry in three minutes and forty-six seconds.  Zierden scored from Partain at 11:07, DeBrito and Stenstrom scored unassisted goals at 11:42 and 12:32, Niblock scored from Zierden and Isaac Johnson at 13:22 and DeBrito finished his hat trick with an unassisted goal at 13:55.

Third period goals were scored by Carter Thielke at 5:30, Zierden at 8:0 and Stenstrom at 12:35.  Babolian assisted on Thielke’s goal and Johnson assisted on Zierden’s goal.

Ben Swanson had a quiet night in the Fergus Falls net as he faced only six shots.

Fergus Falls (3-1) will host Wadena-Deer Creek at 5:00pm Saturday.
