“The friendships I have made through my involvement in sports will last a lifetime,” said West Central Area senior Tate Christenson.  Christenson, who was a 3-sport athlete (football, basketball, golf) for the Knights, will be attending Concordia College in Moorhead where he will major in Business.

“My top sports memory was playing in the section championship game in basketball before COVID shut everything down,” noted Christenson.

“Tate is truly one of those student-athletes that is an exemplary role model in every aspect of our program,” stated basketball and golf coach Kraig Hunter.  “Tate really impacts our program with his leadership and dedication.  He has been one of our most dedicated players throughout the years.  He plays and works at basketball year round.  He was much bigger than everyone when he was young and was a post player, so what is impressive is the way he developed his total all-around game and has transformed his body through speed, agility and weightlifting.  He has now become an athlete with quickness and a multi-faceted skill set.  The most impressive part of Tate is his personality and the way he treats others.  You couldn’t ask for a nice human being that Tate.  We are truly blessed to have him in our program.”

Christenson is a member of the National Honor Society and his favorite school subject is Math.

“Tate is one of the nicest, most genuine students I have worked with,” noted Head Football Coach Nate Wood.  “His positivity and kindness to all is appreciated more that he probably even knows.  Tate is extremely coachable and has been a rock for Knights football these past seasons.  As a three-year starter it’s hard to even imagine games without him right now and he will be greatly missed next year.  His athleticism and work ethic have been shining examples for younger players.”

Christenson has this advice for underclassmen, “Don’t take anything for granted and always be thankful for the opportunities you get, because you never know how long it will last.”
