Breckenridge featured a balanced offensive attack with 244 rushing yards and 172 yards passing for a total of 416 yards. Cooper Yaggie ran for 157 yards on 12 carries and scored twice. Jacob Vizenor had 40 rushing yards on 5 carries and also had a pair of TD’s. Yaggie completed 5-of-6 passes for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns. Vizenor had 4 catches for 153 yards, scoring all 3 TD’s.
OTC ran for 360 yards and recorded 22 first downs on the night. They also had 61 offensive snaps, compared to 32 for the Cowboys. Neither team had a turnover in the game. Calvin Stueve had a big night for OTC, rushing for 242 yards on 31 attempts and scoring three times. Tanner Arndt completed 5-of-10 passes for 47 yards and Kayne Cameron had 3 receptions for 27 yards.
Vizenor scored the first of his 5 touchdowns on a 16 yard run to give the Cowboys a 6-0 lead. OTC followed with a 10 yard touchdown run by Tanner Arndt to tie the game at 6-6.
In the second quarter, Yaggie connected with Vizenor on a 61-yard TD pass and then booted the extra point for a 13-6 Breckenridge lead. OTC scored on a six yard run by Calvin Stueve, cutting the Cowboys lead to 13-12. Yaggie and Vizenor then hooked up on a 45 yard scoring toss to increase their lead to 19-12. OTC cut the lead to 19-18 on an 11 yard run by Stueve.
Yaggie started the second half with a 22 yard TD run and then carried the ball into the end zone for a two-point conversion, giving Breckenridge a 27-18 advantage. OTC scored on a 4 yard TD run by Drew Durbin to draw to within three points at 27-24. Breckenridge made it a 34-24 lead when Yaggie hit Vizenor for a 41 yard gain. Yaggie’s two-point conversion run put the score at 42-24.
A 7-yard touchdown run by Stueve made it a 42-30 contest and Vizenor scored his final TD on a 12 yard run. With Yaggie’s extra point kick the Cowboys won 49-30.
The Bulldogs had their four game winning streak end with the loss. They finished with a record of 4-3.
