Owls Move to 2-0 with Win Over Warriors

The Hancock Owls built a 30-6 halftime lead and went on to post a 46-14 win over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Wednesday, October 14 in Wheaton.  Hancock registered 418 yards of total offense, with 327 coming via the pass and 91 on the ground.

Preston Rohloff had a big night, completing 15-of-26 passes for 327 yards and 3 touchdowns.  His top receiver was Brad Kellenberger who caught 5 balls for 197 yards and a score.  Matt Thompson hauled in 4 passes for 39 yards and a pair of TD’s.  Isaac Nienhaus had 3 receptions for 57 yards and Luke Joos caught three passes for 34 yards.  Joos was the leading rusher with 32 yards on 6 carries, Nienhaus ran for 30 yards on 8 attempts and scored a touchdown.  Rohloff found the end zone twice, carrying the ball 9 times for19 yards.

The Hancock defense held Wheaton/Herman-Norcross to just 46 rushing yards and 152 yards of total offense.

Rohloff got the Owls on the scoreboard first with a one yard run and then hit Nienhaus for the two-point conversion.  Rohloff then scored on a two-yard run and connected with Kellenberger on a 91-yard TD pass.  Thompson hauled in a Rohloff pass to complete the two point conversion, giving the Owls a 22-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Rohloff hooked up with Thompson on a 9-yard pass and a two-point conversion pass to lift the Hancock led to 30-0.  The Warriors scored prior to halftime, leaving the Owls a 30-6 lead at the break.

A fifteen yard touchdown pass to Thompson, followed by a two-point conversion pass to Kellenberger made it a 38-6 ballgame and Nienhaus completed the Hancock scoring with a 12 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.  Another Rohloff to Kellenberger pass put the final two points up for Hancock, making it 46-6 after three quarters.

The Warriors scored on a 10 yard pass and had a successful two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, placing the final score at 46-14.
