Owls Start Season with 38-12 Win Over Ortonville

The Hancock football team scored 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns in their 38-12 win over Ortonville on October 9 in Hancock.  The Owls jumped out to a 24-0 first quarter lead and held a 38-0 lead at the half.

Preston Rohloff passed for 225 yards, completing 14-of-22 attempts.  He connected with Luke Joos early in the game on a 21 yard TD pass and then hit Matt Thompson for the two-point conversion.  Joos scored the second touchdown of the night on a 5-yard run with Isaac Nienhaus hauling in the two-point conversion pass from Rohloff to give the Owls a 16-0 lead.  They increased that lead to 24-0 on a 53 yard pass from Rohloff to Brandon Kellenberger and another two-point connection from Rohloff to Thompson.

In the second quarter, Thompson caught a 26-yard TD pass from Rohloff and Rohloff ran the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion.  Isaac Nienhaus then scored on a one-yard run to complete the Hancock scoring and give the Owls their 38-0 halftime lead.

Ortonville scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns on runs of four yards each.  Hancock finished with 300 (225 passing, 75 rushing) total yards and Ortonville had 309 (146 passing, 163 rushing).

Kellenberger led the Owls with 39 rushing yards on 3 carries and 122 receiving yards on 7 catches.  Joos ran for 30 yards on 8 rushing attempts and garnered five receptions for 71 yards.
