Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes squared off on the ‘frozen tundra’ of Mollberg Field in DL on Friday night with the Lakers recording a 24-0 win over the Otters, improving to 3-0 in the process.  The Otters suffered their second loss in three weeks.

The Lakers got on the board with a 28 yard, first quarter, field goal by Braden Wimmer.  They added a 21 yard TD run by Christian Solberg in the second quarter to take a 9-0 halftime lead.  In the third quarter, the Lakers scored on the first possession of the second half when Joseph Heinlein crossed the goal line from the 2 yard line.  A two-point conversion pass from Tobkin to Kaden Yliniemi increased their lead to 17-0.  The final TD came on a 31 yard pass from Tobkin to Jacob Kalina in the fourth quarter.  The PAT kick was good and the final score read 24-0.

The Lakers ran for 161 yards and had 242 yards of total offense.  Fergus Falls had 134 yards rushing and 169 total yards.

Junior quarterback Andrew Johnson led the Otters with 94 rushing yards on 14 carries.  He completed 4-of-15 passes for 35 yards.  Carter Thielke caught two passes for 19 yards.

DL was led by Jake Green (16 carries, 123 yards) and Solberg (10 carries, 36 yards).  Tobkin completed 7-of-10 passes for 81 yards, but was picked off three times.  Carter Thielke, Owen Babolian and Sam Sorum each hand an interception in the game and the Otters recovered a fumble.  Garrett Nelson had an interception for the Lakers.

Fergus Falls (1-2) will host Pequot Lakes next Friday night.
