The Rothsay Tigers traveled to Erskine, MN to meet halfway with Lake of the Woods for a crossover game.  The Tigers were originally supposed to play Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, but after the Comets canceled their season Rothsay found a new opponent in Lake of the Woods.  To accommodate the long travel Rothsay decided to move their home game and Win-E-Mac was gracious enough to host them on a cold, windy Wednesday night.

It would be the Lake of the Woods Bears that would start on offense first, but Rothsay would force a fumble on their first play.  The Tigers quickly took a 6-0 lead on a 12-yard touchdown run. After forcing a fumble on 4th down, the Tigers would get an opportunity to increase their lead, which they did, scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 12-0.

The Bears on a 4th and long would be forced to punt the ball.  On the ensuing offensive play the Tigers would score on a 55-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter.  After a successful 2-pt conversion the Tigers led 20-0.  The Tigers would score one more time before halftime on a 50-yard run to lead 26-0, where it would stay until halftime.  With both teams getting a lot of players into the game, the second half went quick for a final score of 32-6.

“I thought we came out strong. We were able to be consistent and gain yards while mixing in a lot of different people,” Rothsay Coach Joshua Nordick said.  “We still have some things to iron out on both sides, but it was a good team win.”

The Tigers will travel to Wheaton to take on the Warriors next Friday night.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.

The offense had 359 yards rushing led by Colby Larson with 216 yards on 8 carries and 4 touchdowns.
