The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors lost three starting linemen to graduation from their 5-4 team of a year ago, but they do return several starters and letter winners from that squad.

“We lost a lot up front and that will be a spot where we need to prove ourselves this season,” said Head Coach James Paul, now in his fifth season.  “We bring back our entire linebacking corps from last year so that should be a strength, and we bring back our quarterback and both of our running backs, along with some good wide receivers.”

Returning letter winners include seniors Gunner Martinek (RB/LB), Connor Zych (WR/LB), Gradie Vatthauer (OL/DL)and Ethan Nachbor (WR/DB), juniors Zach Braaten (QB/DB), Hunter Blume (WR/LB), Tim Blume (RB/LB), Jarred Ehlers (RB/LB).

Key newcomers to the varsity are senior Uriel Guzman (OL/DL), juniors Logan Young (OL/DL) and Joe Krenz (OL/DL), and sophomore Grant Dawson (WR/DB).

Paul will be assisted by Jeff Olsen, Chris Falk, Shawn Shay and Mark Hormann.  He sees Hancock, Verndale and Brandon-Evansville as the top teams in the Pheasant Conference.
