Otters Host Brainerd and Sauk Rapids-Rice in CC Invite

Brainerd and Sauk Rapids-Rice runners paid a visit to Fergus Falls for the Otter Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Pebble Lake Golf Course.

Brainerd won the girls’ race with 22 points and the Otters had 35 points.  Sauk Rapids-Rice did not have a complete team.  Senior Emily Nuss had an excellent night winning the Girls’ Varsity Race with a time of 21:17.9.  To add to this she is the Cross Country CLC Athlete of the week.

“She led the race tonight from the start,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.  “She is responding well to her season of training and is looking strong going into the section meet next week.  Senior Sierra Hatlewick ran an excellent top 10 finish with a top season best time.  This has really been her year.  She is shining on the course and as a leader on the team.  Senior Brooklyn Berge ran a great regular season ending time at home tonight.  We are so thankful to her for her excellent leadership and work ethic.”

Brainerd scored 18 points to win the boys’ race and Fergus Falls was second with a score of 60.  Sauk Rapids-Rice had 63 points.  Thomas Ruhl of Brainerd won the individual title with a time of 17:43.7.

Top Fergus Falls finishers were Conrad Lobb (18:36.5) in eighth place, Luke Schroeder (19:16.6) in tenth place, Jaden Miller (19:48.7) in 13th place, Logan Bredenberg (20:14.7) in 14th place and Aiden Lindgren (20:28.5) in 15th place.
