Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Head Volleyball Coach Debi Foss will have several new faces on the court this fall, but is relying on her senior co-captains to be strong leaders on and off the court.

“Senior setter, Audra Ewan, provides hustle, quickness and cohesiveness to our squad,” said Foss.  “Libero, Mackenzie Foss, also provides hustle, experience, game knowledge, reads the ball well, and brings energy to the court.”

Other returning starters include junior Natalie Zwiers (Middle Hitter), and sophomores Hope Adams (Middle Hitter) and Madi Foss (Outside Hitter).

“We have several up and coming players that will see action this season,” noted Foss.  “Abby Heikes worked hard in the off season and it’s showing on the court.  Senior Abby Stanton and sophomore Madison Ballweg will each see playing time at the setter position.  Two eighth graders, Anna Brumfield and Emily Adams, have also shown a lot of potential in the preseason.”

Others completing the varsity roster will be Senior Defensive specialist, Alyssa Broyles, junior outside hitter Annie Claney, and junior Diamond Twedt, who is a defensive specialist.

“Since coming out of the COVID shutdown our girls have been ON FIRE,” added Foss.  “It’s evident they love the game of volleyball.  They’ve worked very hard in the off season on both skills and strength training.  In 2020 I’m looking for our team to take it to the next level in terms of attitude, energy, skills, strength and teamwork.”

Foss sees Brandon-Evansville, Parkers Prairie and Underwood as the top teams in the Little Eight Conference.
