Twelve players with starting experience return for the West Central Area/Ashby Knights football team as they look to improve on the 6-4 record from last year.  Head Coach Nate Wood begins his third year leading the Knights.  He will be assisted by Todd Hickman, Andy Peterson, Peter Nelson, Eli Dotts, Dave Stone and Cody Hickman.

“This team has a number of returning starters, many of whom are entering their third season as starters,” noted Coach Wood.  “They are poised, focused and confident in their responsibilities and each other.”

Seniors Brady Reeve (OL/DL), Jaden Norby (RB/LB), Jordan Lohse (RB/DB), Kade Olson (RB/LB), Mark Adams (OL/DL), Shane Wrolson (OL/DL), Tate Christenson (TE/DL) and Connor Nadgwick (RB/LB), juniors Colton Lindquist (OL/DL) and Hunter Norby (RB/LB), and sophomores Anthony Sykora (RB/DB) and Tyler Stone (OL/DB) are all back as starters from last years’ team.

Other returning letter winners include seniors Austin Mattson (OL/DL), Nate Kisgen (RB/LB) and Trent Koloski (OL/LB), juniors Carson Spangler (WR/DB), Derick Novotny (RB/LB), Mattson Hoff (RB/LB), Ryder Staples (WR/DB) and Torin Olson (WR/DB), and sophomores Beau Robinson (OL/DL), Bret Amundson (OL/DL), Cole Anderson (WR/DB), Damon Sansted (OL/DL), Evan Paulson (QB/LB), Isaac Kreft (TE/DL), Justin Blasyck (OL/DL), Roman Mikhailovschi (WR/DB) and Parker Stach (WR/DB).

“We obviously, as always, want to be a positive representation of West Central and Ashby on and off the field,” stated Coach Wood.  “We want to demonstrate maximum effort and discipline and be extremely focused.  But this year, more than any other year, we need to play with a sense of appreciation.  To be grateful for the opportunity to have this experience and share in the joy that is high school football.  We need to be resilient and respond positively no matter what challenging situations are thrown at us during this very abnormal time.”

Wood sees Pillager and Osakis as the top teams in Section 6AA and the Midwest Blue District.
