Chad Fredericksen enters his fourteenth season as head coach of the Breckenridge Cowboys football team.  His Cowboys were 7-4 a year ago, advancing all the way to the Section 6A championship game before seeing their season come to an end.  With an experienced batch of senior student-athletes coming back there is reason for optimism in Breckenridge for the 2020 season.

“We are very excited about getting going, finally,” stated Fredericksen.  “We have a bunch of seniors with a ton of experience.  We need to plug in a few key pieces and are hoping for a pretty solid year.”

Returning starters include seniors Cooper Yaggie (QB/DB), Jared Aamold (OL/DL), Gavin Johnson (OL/DL), Jonah Christensen (OL/DL), Chris Nieto (RB/DB), Connor Twidwell (TE/LB), Daniel Erlandson (FB/DL) and Jacob Vizenor (RB/DB).

Seniors Sebastian Anderson (WR/DB), Gus Hasbargen (OL/DL) and Ben Krump (OL/DL), along with juniors Griffin Busse (RB/DB), James Mertes (RB/DB) and Collin Roberts (TE/LB) will be expected to fill some voids in the varsity lineup.

Fredericksen will be assisted by Jordan Christensen, Brad Lindberg, Tony Bogenrief, Joel Herder, Tanner Rabbithead, Eric Erlandson, Carson Yaggie and Tim Mohs.

Fredericksen sees New York Mills and defending champs Underwood as the top teams in Section 6A, with Barnesville the favorite in the Midwest District (White).
