Pelican Rapids and Crosby-Ironton joined Detroit Lakes for the DL Cross Country Invitational on Thursday. The Detroit Lakes boys’ won their race with 22 points, while Pelican Rapids took second with 33. C-I did not field a complete team. On the girls’ side, the Lakers posted a winning total of 37 points, followed by the Rangers with 42 and the Vikings with 46.
Emily Miller (21:48.8) of Crosby-Ironton was the individual champion in the girls’ varsity race, with Sylvia Pesch (21:50.1) of Pelican Rapids taking runner-up honors. Rounding out the team scoring for the Vikings were Kirra Johnson (22:25.8) in fifth place, Morgan Korf (23:07.3) in ninth place, Hazel Haugrud (23:57.1) in 14th place and Lily Williams (24:17.8) in 16th place. Rachael Guler (25:01.3) and Greta Tollefson (25:07.3) completed the Pelican Rapids team in 18th and 19th place, respectively.
Charlie Larson (18:25.6) of the Vikings won the boys’ individual race with Cole Weber (18:49.1) of DL taking second place. Other Viking placers were Sam Moe (20:00.7) in fifth place, Brody Syverson (20:49.7) in eighth place, Julian Diaz (21:01.5) in ninth place and Connor Larson (21:01.7) in tenth place. Willem Pesch (21:01.8) finished eleventh and Oakley Carlson (22:02.2) was thirteenth.
