Fergus Falls hosted the John Hermes Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls, welcoming Alexandria and Moorhead for the meet on a cool, windy afternoon.

Alexandria won the girls’ race with 20 points.  Moorhead was second with 47 and Fergus Falls took third with 65.

“The cooler weather brought great time drops all around,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.  “Emily ran an aggressive time-dropping race in windy conditions.  We ran tough against two great teams in the Section and Conference.”

Emily Nuss led the Otters with a 5th place overall finish. Sierra Hatlewick, Julia Anderson, Ainsley Hansen, Naomi Dummer, Becca Schindler and Ellia Soydara completed the varsity team.  Hannah Scharnberg had an excellent race leading the JV team while dropping nearly a minute off her season best.

Alexandria runners Aleah Miller and Taelor Dummer finished 1-2, while Emma Ecker took fourth, Jaelyn Miller sixth and Mataya Hoelscher seventh.

Moorhead and Alexandria each recorded 29 team points on the boys’ side, however, the Spuds were declared the winners as their sixth runner finished ahead of the Cardinals number six runner.  Jacob Kleven of Alexandria was the individual champion and Moorhead runner Elijah Harvala finished second.

Fergus Falls was third with 70 points.  The Otters were led by Conrad Lobb in eighth place.  Luke Schroeder and Jaden Miller with 13th and 14th, respectively, while Logan Bredenberg placed 17th and Kolsen Papon 18th.
