Foss scored 3 goals and assisted on 2 others as the Comets recorded a 6-0 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in Walker on Tuesday, September 22. She was also a defensive force in the Comets 2-0 shutout of Crookston on Thursday, September 24.
“McKenzie did not score or assist in our game versus Crookston, but that doesn’t mean her presence was not felt on the field,” said Head Coach Jeremy Mueller of Hillcrest. “Over the course of this year she has emerged as the glue that holds our team together in the middle of the field. She plays with the defensive mindset and is very aggressive and getting to the ball. She also is a great distributor, and is able to send the ball up the field, creating opportunities for us to attack. She is one of our best scores, but we have found ourselves to be more effective when she is using her energy on defense, and creating opportunities for our forwards and midfielders to do the scoring. Because of her defense, we are able to boast a winning record so far this year, and in all of our wins we have also not allowed a single goal… Much of that is to McKenzies credit. It’s been a fun season to watch her emerge as one of the leaders on our team, and I’m excited to see how she finishes the year.”
