Sartell-St. Stephen hosted the Run4Rustie Cross Country Invite on Thursday.  The boys’ race was won by Sartell-St. Stephen with 25 points.  Moorhead was second with 39 and Fergus Falls had 76 points to finish third.  In the girls’ competition, the host Sabres took first place with 24 points, Moorhead was second with 42 and the Otters were third with 54.

“The Otter girls ran against 2 strong girls’ teams in the section on Thursday, Moorhead and Sartell,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde. “This was our second meet this week.  We usually try not race within such a tight time frame, but with time constraints on the season this was what we had.  Considering the tough racing conditions in the heat on Tuesday, and a quick turnaround in our race schedule, the girls overall had great times.”

Emily Nuss led the Otters, placing 5th.  “The lead pack took off at a quick pace,” said Coach Welde.  “Emily ran a smart race tucking in with that pack and jostling for that 5th place.  Sierra Hatlewick showed her experience and strength with a strong finish.  Julia Anderson showed her strength and fearlessness in her race.  She was actually stung by a hornet during the final mile of her race.  She held her composure and ran a time just short of her season best.”

Ingrid Buiceag-Arama of Sartell-St. Stephen won the race with a time of 20:31, while her teammate, Mady Dockendorf took second with a time of 21:04.  Carlie Sheldon (21:18) of Moorhead was third, the Sabres Ashley Nelson (21:19) came in fourth and Nuss (21:24) claimed fifth place.

Here are the individual results for the Otters:
5. Emily Nuss 21:24, 8. Sierra Hatlewick 22:36, 12. Julia Anderson 23:05, 14. Ainsley Hansen 23:32, 15. Naomi Dummer 23:48, 17. Rebecca Schindler 24:35, 19. Ellia Soydara 25:40

In the JV division, Brooklyn Berge, Miah Schmidt, and Hannah Scharnberg ran races that earned them a medal.

Moorhead had the top two runners in the boys’ varsity race, with Elijah Harvala (17:51) winning and Isaac Martell (18:00) finishing as runner-up.  Conrad Lobb (18:43) and Luke Schroeder (19:18) of the Otters came in eighth and fourteenth respectively.

Here are the individual boy’ results for the Otters:
8. Conrad Lobb 18:43, 14. Luke Schroeder 19:18, 17. Jaden Miller 20:08, 18. Jack Welde 20:15, 19. Logan Bredenberg 21:02, 20. Tommy Erickson 21:10, 21. Kolsen Papon 21:11, 23. Aiden Lindgren 21:20
