Bemidji sophomore Emma Wright scored all three goals for the Lumberjacks as they defeated the Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team 3-1 on Thursday night at Chet Anderson Stadium alongside Lake Bemidji at Bemidji State University.

“Bemidji scored in the first eight minutes of the game,” reported Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters.  “They possessed the ball into our territory and crossed it in, crashing the net.  Ellie Andersen pounded a direct kick just under the crossbar to tie the game at 1-1 with eight minutes left in the half.”

Bemidji scored early in the second half off a through ball to take a 2-1 lead and then put the game away with Wright’s third goal of the night coming with just over two minutes to play.

“We held strong and played a great defensive game,” commented Jurgens.  “Svea Smestad played an amazing game.  Bemidji put a lot of shots on net and she rose to the occasion, basically playing on one leg.”

The Otters (3-4-1) will host Moorhead at 7:00pm Monday at the Otter Stadium Field in Fergus Falls.
