The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys’ Soccer team was defeated by Pelican Rapids on Tuesday at HLA by the score of 5-1.

The Comets spent most of the first half playing in the “paint” defensively.  However, the Vikings scored early, at seven minutes in, on a dribbler misplayed by the Comet Defense and Keeper.  Midway through the first half, The Vikings scored their second goal on a corner kick volley.  Comet midfielder, Juin Moon, tallied five minutes before the end of the first half, with a floater to the top right corner of the Viking net, assisted by Gabe Swedenburg. A goal by the Vikings a minute later ended the half with the Comets down two goals, 3-1.

The Vikings, attacking the left goal line, scored again at 64 minutes, on a shot at the inside post.  At 70 minutes, the Vikings were awarded a PK, which Senior goalkeeper, Doulton Royce stopped.  Pelican Rapids ended all scoring with their final goal at the 75 minute mark.

In JV action, the Comets won 4-2, with Zayne Weinrich scoring two goals and Zane Holmquist and Drew Fischer both adding a goal.

The Comets now 0-5, face off with East Grand Forks on Friday at HLA to start the second half of their season games, facing all former opponents a second time.
