Five different Vikings found the score sheet Tuesday night against the Crookston Pirates in Lakes to Prairie Conference action.   In their second game of the season, the Pelican Rapids Boys' Soccer team continued to find a balanced scoring attack from throughout the squad as they recorded a 5-0 win.  Blustery conditions favored the Vikings in the first half and helped them control possession time, outshooting the Pirates in the 1st Half 14 shots on goal to 0.

Daniel Urbano got the team on the board when he and Khadar Ibrahim played a tight combination of passes before Urbano put the ball into the back of the net.  Four minutes later, Hamsa Ishowa was able to stick home a rebound to put the Vikings in front 2-0.  At the 22 minutes mark in the half, freshman Abdi Isse managed to hold the ball up long enough for Khadar Ibrahim to run thru and make the score 3-0.  Eight minutes later, Ibrahim found Mohamed Ahmed as Ahmed got his first goal of the season.  Finally with four minutes to play in the half, Jesus Moreno was fouled hard in the box earning a penalty.  Moreno's initial penalty attempt was saved by the goalie but Moreno scored on the rebound.

In the second half, goal keeper Cris Abarca was injured just 4 minutes into the half and Sebastian Rosiles was forced to take over in the net for the Vikings.  With the wind now blowing fiercely in the Vikings face, the team elected to play a more possession based and less attack heavy 2nd half to try and keep the game under control.  The Vikings for the game managed 19 shots on goal while keeping Crookston to 0 shots on goal.

The Vikings improved to 2-0 and now have nine days to prepare for their home opener; a rematch against Detroit Lakes on September 10.

In other area boys' soccer, Alexandria and Rocori played to a 1-1 tie.  No other information is available on this game.
