Barnesville won the opener 10-5 behind 11 hits and a complete game by Caleb Ott. Ott gave up 8 hits in 7 innings and 5 runs, however none of the runs were earned as the home team committed 4 errors during the game. Barnesville led 9-2 after 4 innings, scoring a single run in the first on an infield pop up that dropped between Hawley players. Hawley would even the score in the top of the second before Barnesville posted 3 in the bottom of the inning, 2 more in the third and three in the fourth. Matt Samuelson (3-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Adrian O'Brien (1-2, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 RBI, 2 SB) both had RBI doubles during the rally. Ott (2-3, 2 R) and Sam Askegaard (2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI) also had multiple hits and Jack Wahl (1-3, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 SB) scored three times. Game 2 was a 5 inning affair and Hawley broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 4th with an unearned run on a two out infield error. Matt Haugrud took a tough loss after giving up 4 hits and allowing 2 earned runs. Haugrud, Barnesville's top reliever this year, got his first start and recorded 5 strikeouts and walked just one. Cade Carley's two-run double in the first gave Hawley a 2-1 lead. Bryce Krueger's RBI ground out in the top of the 4th evened the score before Hawley scored the eventual winner in the bottom of the inning. O'Brien (2-3, 1 R, SB) and Haugrud (1-2) had the only hits for Barnesville off winning pitcher Michael Slette (5 Inn, 3 H, 2 R, 3 K, 1 BB).
Hawley is now 9-6 on the year, while Barnesville moved to 8-6-1. Barnesville will host a home doubleheader on Friday against Pelican Rapids, while Hawley will play DGF in Dilworth in a doubleheader.
