The Fergus Falls 13U team hosted the West Fargo Spikes on Monday night at the MState baseball field.  Unfortunately, the night did not go as planned, and they lost both ends of the doubleheader.

The Otters jumped out to an early lead in Game One as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first.  After three walks to Logan Larson, Carston Fronning, and Garrett Kuhn-Rice loaded the bases, Levi King drove in the first one with a ground ball to short.  After King stole second, Alex Ellison plated two runs with an RBI single to left.  Ellison would eventually score on a wild pitch to end the scoring in the first inning.

West Fargo scored one run off Fronning in the second to cut the lead to 4-1.  The Otters answered with two runs of their own.  Luke Pearson started the inning with a sharp single to right.  After advancing to second on Aikhem Bethel's ground ball, Larson drew a walk.  Both Pearson and Larson would eventually advance and score on wild pitches to extend the lead to 6-1.

Both teams scored one run in the fourth inning.  The Otters got their last run of the game when King singled, stole second, and scored when the Spikes misplayed a ground ball by Alex Ellison.

The visiting team then scored the last six runs of the game as they capitalized on some wildness and a couple of errors.  "We definitely let this one slip away.  It was a game we should've won if we just throw strikes and make the routine plays," said Head Coach Kevin Pearson.

Bethel, King, and Alex Ellison each collected one hit for the Otters.  Fronning (2), Kuhn-Rice (1), Larson (2), and Bethel (2) all spent time on the mound.

Unfortunately the Otters could not turn things around in the nightcap as they lost 7-1.  The lone run was scored in the first inning.  Bethel reached on a Spike's error, and then he stole second.  Larson did a great job hitting behind the runner to advance Bethel to third.  King drove in the run with a solid single to center.  That was not only the only run, but it was also the only hit the Otters would get in the darkness-shortened game.

Isaac Ellison pitched two innings, Alex Ellison pitched one inning, and Isaac Iverson pitched one inning for the Otters.  "In order for us to win more games, we simply have to throw more strikes and make the plays behind our pitchers," noted Pearson.  "Hopefully that will start to happen as we continue to play more games."
