Breckenridge earned a big conference win on Monday night, defeating DGF 4-0 in Senior Babe Ruth action.

“This was one of the better played games you will see at the Varsity level, or at any level for that matter,” said Breckenridge Head Coach Kevin Hiedeman. “Neither team made an error in the game and the Breckenridge hitters did not record a single strike out.”

The winning run actually came in the bottom of the first inning when Emmit Vig was hit by a pitch, stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a ground out by Jeremy Stack. Carson Hought laid down a perfect safety squeeze to score Vig. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 6th inning when Breckenridge picked up three more runs. The starting pitcher for DGF had thrown a great game but ran out of steam in the bottom of the 6th walking the bases loaded. With one out Connor Twidwell came up and singled scoring Stack. Collin Robert followed with a single scoring Hought. Max Johnson walked scoring Brayden Wahl.

“All of our pitchers did a great job tonight,” added Hiedeman. “Carter Haugen started on the mound pitching 4 innings, striking out 4, walking three and only giving up one hit. Cooper Yaggie came in middle relief and pitched 2 1.3 innings striking out 3, walking one and giving up one hit. Twidwell pitched the remaining 2/3 striking out two and walking one.”

Breckenridge has a full week. They have a double header at Ashby Tuesday, a double header at home vs Ada on Thursday and a single game with Parkers Prairie on Friday.
