GAME 1
Barnesville traveled to Frazee for a doubleheader and swept both games, however had to come from behind in each contest.  Trailing 5-4, Matt Samuelson’s 2 run homer in the top of sixth keyed the comeback and Barnesville tacked on 4 insurance runs in the top of the seventh.  Samuelson (2-3, 4 RBI, 2 BB) and Noah Krause (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI) each had multiple hits, while Adrian O’Brien, Caleb Ott, Kellen Hinsz, Blake Torfin and Sam Askegaard each had an RBI in the victory.  O’Brien (4 Inn, 2 H, 4 R, 7 BB, 6 Ks) got his first start of the year and Matt Haugrud (3 Inn, 3 H, 1 R, 6 Ks) got the Win in relief.

GAME 2
The second game was shortened to 4 innings due to darkness and Barnesville, playing as the home team, would get their second walk-off win of the summer.  Matt Haugrud’s (2-2, 2 RBI) Sacrifice Fly scored O’Brien from third for the winning run.  Peyton Pauna (2.1 Inn, 2 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 4 Ks) and Noah Krause (1.2 Inn, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 Ks) would combine efforts on the mound.  Jack Wahl (1-1, 2 R, 3 SB) and O’Brien (0-0, 2 R, 3 BB, 3 SB) showed their speed on the bases and scored all 4 runs.

Wednesday, July 15
Barnesville traveled to Breckenridge to take on the Cowboys and looked to avenge their only loss on the season.  Sam Askegaard (7 H, 0 ER, 5 HBP, 5 Ks) grinded thru 6 innings and was credited with the Win.  Askegaard kept the home team at bay after they scored 6 unearned runs in the second inning.  After scoring a single run in the fifth, Barnesville plated 4 runs in the sixth to make it a one-run ball game.  The old adage ‘It Ain’t Over till it’s Over’ was proven in the final frame when Barnesville was down to their final strike when Kellen Hinsz (2-4, 2 R) lined a single to left to start the rally.  Still down their final out, two walks and a misplayed grounder that should have ended the game instead tied it at 6 and extended the inning. Breckenridge relief pitchers struggled to find strike zone, allowing two more bases loaded walks to make it 8-6.  Connor Morse came on in the bottom of the seventh and yielded a single, but earned the Save with a strike out and fly out to end the game.  Matt Samuelson (1-3) and Caleb Ott (1-3) both had 2 RBI.  Barnesville had plenty of early scoring chances and left 12 men on base in the contest.  Barnesville moved their record to 7-1.

GAME 1
Barnesville traveled to Tony Sipe Field in Ada for a doubleheader match up with the other league leader.  Both teams had played earlier in the week but preserved their top pitchers for the twinbill, however the two teams combined for 27 hits in the contest. Barnesville couldn’t hold down an 8-5 lead in the sixth as Ada battled back to tie the score and send it to extra innings.  After a scoreless 7th & 8th inning, the visitors would plate 2 runs to take a 10-8 lead.   After a two out RBI single in the bottom of the inning, Matt Haugrud (3 Innings, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 Ks) would induce a popup to end the game.  Haugrud got the win in relief of Caleb Ott (6 Inn; 12 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 6 Ks).  Jack Wahl (3-4, 4 R, 3 SB), Matt Samuelson (2-4; 1 R, 5 RBI), Adrian O’Brien (2-3, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Sam Askegaard (2-5) each had multiple hits in the game.

GAME 2
Playing their 5th game in 3 days, Barnesville ran into Ada’s ace hurler, Chase Bucholz.  Bucholz tossed a two hit shutout in the 5 inning affair, giving up just two singles and striking out 9.   Conner Morse (3.1 Inn, 4 ER, 4 Ks) and Travis Affield (1.2 Inn, 0 R, 3Ks) shared duties on mound.  Samuelson had both hits for the visitors.
