Fergus Falls traveled to Perham to play one 9-inning U19 baseball game on Tuesday with the visitors returning home with a 7-3 victory.

“Today was a great example of playing a complete team game,” commented Fergus Falls Coach Trevor Larson.  “We received good starting pitching from Jaydon Ollila (5.1IP, 4H, 1ER, 2BB, 4K), who definitely gave us a chance to win.  We played great defense today, only making one error.  The biggest thing that we are proud of as a coaching staff has to be the way the guys are treating each other by always being there for each other no matter success or failure.”

Carter Thielke (3.2IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, 5K) pitched well in relief.

Fergus Falls took a 2-0 lead in the first inning behind an Abel Aho walk, a Nic Pearson single and a Perham error.  They added single runs in the third and sixth innings, taking a 4-1 lead.  Fergus put the game away for good in the seventh inning by putting a 3-spot on the board.  Singles by Aho and Pearson put runners on first and third, Arik Heacox singled home Aho and Brock Kotschevar delivered a sharp single up the middle to plate both Pearson and Heacox to extend the lead to 7-1.

Leading hitters were Pearson (3-4, BB), Heacox (2-3, 2B, 3RBI) and Ollila (2-5).

Fergus Falls is coached by Trevor Larson, Tosten Mann, Ashwin Stratton, Eric Salveson and Nathan Zierden.
