The Fergus Falls U19 baseball team was shutout twice in the Jamestown Tournament, losing to LaMoure 2-0 in their first game and falling to Gillette, Wyoming 8-0 in their second contest.

In the loss to LaMoure, Brock Kotschevar (6IP, 4H, 4BB, 8K, 2ER) was the tough-luck loser on the mound as the offense shut down.  Kotschevar and Ian Stumbo both went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Fergus Falls.

“We threatened with a runner on third with less than two outs in the third and fifth innings, but couldn’t get the job done,” said Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “Brock threw well enough for us to win and he deserved better.  We need to keep things simple with guys on third.”

Fergus Falls managed only two hits in the loss to Gillette.  Nic Pearson and Mike Maanum each had a hit in the game.  The loss went to Arik Heacox (4IP, 6H, 6BB, 4K, 8R, 6ER).

“We were over powered on the mound tonight,” said Larson.  “Gillette has a great program and some very good pitchers.  We learned some of our weaknesses tonight and we will be better because of it.”
