Nick Paur has had a strange beginning to his first year as Head Coach of the Barnesville Boys’ Track and Field team.  After volunteering in 2018 and serving as junior high coach in 2019, working with the shot put, discus and pole vault, an interrupted start to the spring season has delayed his ability to evaluate the varsity talent he has and assess his teams’ strengths.  That will make for a shorter window to prepare an event lineup when the season does get underway, but then again, every team will be in the same boat.

Paur will be assisted by Chad Suter, in his third season, working with the long jump, triple jump and high jump.  Noah Brenden will coach the junior high team for the Trojans.

Barnesville returns senior captain Damian Camperud (shot put, discus) and junior captain Joey Mark (hurdles, high jump, long jump), along with junior Cameron Heng (sprinter) and sophomore Kaden Zenzen (jumps).  Junior Adam Tonsfeldt (sprinter) is a newcomer to the sport, but with his athleticism will undoubtedly make an immediate impact in multiple events.

“We are looking to define new roles for our athletes as we have increased our numbers from last year,” said Coach Paur.  We plan to work on team speed and running form this this upcoming season, along with weight training to increase our competitiveness.”
