The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team won for a twelfth straight time when they beat St. Cloud Apollo 57-52 on Friday night in St. Cloud.  The Otters improved to 22-4 on the season and secured the number one seed in the South half of Section 8AA.

Apollo led 18-9 early in the game as they were able to capitalize on 13 first half turnovers by Fergus Falls.  The Otters, however, were able to rally for a 33-28 halftime lead.  Fergus Falls finished with 20 turnovers on the night but the Otters won the rebounding battle, 39-28.

Fergus Falls trailed by one point with one minute to play when Dominic Aguilar grabbed a rebound off a missed shot by Apollo.  His pass was saved from going out of bounds by Cody Norgren and the ball was deflected to Chance Fazio who made a basket to put the Otters up 53-52.  A quick 3-attempt by Apollo misfired and Fazio snared the rebound and was fouled.  He hit both free throws to put the Otters up 55-52 with 40 seconds to play.  The Eagles missed a shot, pulled down the rebound and took a time out.  A 3-point try by Chang Hoth missed and Cody Norgren was fouled after getting the rebound.  Norgren made both free throws to put the final margin at five points.

The Otters were led by Ethan Olson (20 points, 5 rebounds), Chance Fazio (13 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists), Dominic Aguilar (12 points, 5 assists) and Cody Norgren (9 rebounds, 3 assists).

Chang Hoth and Mike Gravelle led St. Cloud Apollo with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
