Knights Beat Rockets to finish regular season 24-2

The West Central Knights wrapped up their regular season with a 76-44 win over the Underwood Rockets on senior night.  They have secured the number one seed in the south sub-section with an overall 24-2 record.

The Knights shot 53% (30-57) and they made 42% of their threes (11-26).  The Rockets were 13-45 for 29% and made 4-17 threes for 24%.  The Rockets had 33 rebounds to 32 for the Knights.  The Rockets had 15 turnovers and the Knights nine.  From the free throw line the Knights were 5-13 and the Rockets 14-21.

Leaders for the Knights were Jack VanKempen with 21 points and 11 rebounds; Grant Beuckens 16 points, 7 assists and 3 steals;  Jacob Bright 15 points, 7 assists and 3 steals; Gage Staples 9 points, a game high 13 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; Brady Reeve 5 points and 3 rebounds; Tate Christenson 4 points and 4 assists; Ryder Staples 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.  Cole Anderson scored 2 points, Jacob Strunk 1, and Isaac Kreft 1.

Leaders for the Rockets were Krosby Aasness with 12, Canaan Kugler 11, Braden Thorson 9, Winston Heifort 7, Joey Kupfer 3, Tim Devaney 1, and Izic Albright 1.

"WCA came out of the gate and shot the ball extremely well tonight," commented Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  "It was difficult to match their intensity and their scoring.  We played tough but couldn't keep pace with a very strong team.  We'll be ready to move forward with playoffs starting next week."
