Pelican Rapids held Mahnomen/Waubun to ten first half points as they cruised to a 38-10 halftime lead and went on to record a 58-34 victory on Tuesday night in Pelican Rapids.

“We had a very solid first half on the defensive end as our guys did a nice job of taking away their drives to the paint which was a big key for us,” said Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “Offensively we moved the ball well and had a balanced scoring night which was nice to see.”

The Vikings were led by Logan Petznick with 14 points.  Logan Fahje and Jayden Rutherford each had 8 points.

“This was our final regular season home game and we were able to celebrate our four seniors tonight with a good win,” noted Gullingsrud. “Logan Petznick, Kirby Nelson, and David Johnston are fantastic student-athletes that we have had the privilege to be able to coach the last few years and Obetd Franco is the fourth senior in our program who has been unable to play the last two years because of a knee injury. All four guys have been excellent teammates during their years in our program as they have shown our younger players what it means to work hard and have a selfless attitude.”

Payton Keezer and Sam Zima led Mahnomen/Waubun with 10 and 9 points, respectively.
