Underwood handed Battle Lake a 62-37 Little Eight Conference victory on Thursday night.

The lady Rockets hit 44% (22-49) of their field goal attempts and made 18-of-21 (85%) from the free throw line.

Leaders were Kayla Rocholl with 18 points and Moraes Bugbee with 9.  Liz Lukken and Ally Johnson added 8 points each.

“We had a full gym and great atmosphere tonight as it was Farmers State Bank fill the gym night, and the girls responded,” said Head Coach Brian Hovland of the Rockets. “Defensively, we were able to cause quite a few turnovers. Offensively, we did a pretty good job with shot selection vs. a good defensive team.”

Underwood (15-5) has won twelve games in a row.  They will face West Central Area at 4:30pm Saturday at UM-Morris.

“The Rockets were dominant tonight from start to finish,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “Their defensive pressure just overwhelmed us and we were never able to get our offense started.  At the half we were behind 24-37, but the Rockets came out fast in the second half and really pulled away.  Underwood is a really tough team and we just couldn't compete tonight.”

Grace VanErp scored 10 points to lead the lady Battlers.  Halie Johnson and Makenna Tysdal added 8 point apiece.

Battle Lake (7-13) will play Wheaton/Herman-Norcross at 3:00pm Saturday at UM-Morris.
