The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team trailed 20-19 at the half against Ashby on Tuesday night, however, the Chargers came alive in the second half, out-scoring the Arrows 37-19 to post a 56-39 Little Eight Conference victory.

“After a real struggle in the first half, the girls put together a nice run in the second half to secure the win,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “We had a lot of good looks offensively that we just couldn’t convert on, but thankfully our defense kept us in the game. Anytime you can find a way to win shooting under 30 percent from the field, it’s a testament to your play on the defensive end. Kristen Kokett was phenomenal tonight on both ends for us. Hopefully it’s a sign of more good things to come from her.”

Kokett led the way with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.  Mikenna Pattrin was also in double digits with 12 points, while completing a double-double with 12 rebounds.  She also recorded 3 blocked shots.  Brittany Korkowski added 11 rebounds and 2 steals and Haddey Zastrow had 5 points, 2 assists and 3 steals.

Brandon-Evansville (12-8) will host Hancock on Thursday and face Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on the road at 3:45pm Saturday.

Ashby (4-16) is at Parkers Prairie on Thursday night.
