Underwood handed Hillcrest Lutheran Academy a 66-42 loss in Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball on Tuesday night on the Rockets home floor.

Underwood shot just under 50% (27-55) from the field.  They were led by Kayla Rocholl (14 points, 4 steals) and Brooke Hovland (11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists).  Moraes Bugbee contributed 12 points, 4 steals and 3 assists off the bench.

“We shot the ball a lot better than we did on Monday night and I thought we did an okay job of defending,” commented Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “We were a little lazy on our rotations and Hillcrest made us pay by hitting 6-of-12 from behind the arc.  I thought Moe gave us a real nice spark tonight.  She has been a little under the weather lately, but she came off the bench and gave us some really good minutes.”

Mackenzie Foss led the lady Comets with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  Molly McGuire added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, and Anna Rasmusson chipped in with 6 points and 4 rebounds.  Cassy Twedt had a solid floor game with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and Audra Ewan contributed 4 points and 3 assists.

“Once we were able to settle into our half-court offense we moved the ball really well which led to open, high percentage shots,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “Everyone contributed on both ends of the floor and it was fun to see the girls work together against an athletic, aggressive Underwood team.”

Underwood (14-5) has won eleven straight games.  They will host Battle Lake on Thursday and will face West Central Area on Saturday afternoon at UM-Morris.

Hillcrest will have home games against Rothsay on Thursday night and against Brandon-Evansville on Monday.
