The West Central Area Knights traveled to Upsala on Tuesday night and picked up a 69-54 win behind four players in double figures.

The Knights hit 27-48 shots for 56% including 5-14 threes and they went 10-14 from the free throw line. The Cardinals made 21-51 shots for 41%.  They hit 5-18 threes and 7 of 10 free throws. The Knights out-rebounded the Cardinals 31-23.  They also forced Upsala into 19 turnovers but committed 14 themselves.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, “We did several things well, one being sharing the ball. We had a lot of good buddy looks on post to post passes and some good kick-outs for threes.  There were also some sloppy things we have to clean up. We had a few poor rotations on defense and committed too many careless turnovers.   Brady Reeve and Ryder Staples both played very well off the bench for us.”

Jack VanKempen had a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Gage Staples had 15 points and 5 rebounds; Reeve had 12 points and 3 rebounds; Grant Beuckens had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Tate Christenson had 7 points and led the teams with 7 assists, while picking up 2 steals and taking a charge.  Jacob Bright was next in assists with 4 while also scoring 3 points, 3 rebounds, and getting 2 steals.  Ryder Staples was a perfect 3-3 from the field with 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Levi Lampert led the Cardinals in scoring with 9 points.

The Knights are now 14-2 on the year and will host the Morris Area Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
