“This was a great team win for us,” commented Head Coach Hannah Clark of the Comets. “We played unselfish basketball and everyone was able to contribute. Our guards shot the ball really well and that opened up the middle for our forwards to get some easy looks inside.”
Pacing the lady Comets were Mackenzie Foss (14 points, 8 assists, 4 steals), Madison Ballweg (12 points), Madison Foss (11 points), Audra Ewan (6 points, 5 rebounds), Molly McGuire (6 points, 4 rebounds), Cassy Twedt (4 points, 10 rebounds) and Anna Rasmussen (3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists).
“Mackenzie led us on offense and her defensive pressure made it difficult for St. Johns Prep to initiate their offense,” said Clark. “She had 4 steals, plus many more deflections. Madi Ballweg scored her first varsity points and made 5-of-7 field goals. Cassy dominated the boards on both ends of the floor and brought a ton of energy to the game.”
St. Johns Prep was led by Nora Miller with 10 points and Valerya Miller with 8.
Hillcrest will travel to Brandon on Thursday night for a Little Eight Conference matchup with Brandon-Evansville.
