The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team defeated the Underwood Rockets 57-35 on Friday night in Ashby.  The Arrows led 29-17 at halftime.

The score was knotted at seven apiece when Jaden Norby put back an offensive rebound to break the tie and record point 1000 with the Arrows.  Jaden finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.  Derrek Bartz gave Ashby a spark off the bench leading all scorers with a Varsity career high 20 points.  Ashton Ecker, starting in place of the injured Jacob Cook, contributed 7 points and 5 assists.  The Arrows made 8 three point shots on 24 attempts (33%) and shot 39% (22/57) overall.

“It was a great night to be an Arrow fan watching Jaden become the 17th Ashby basketball player to achieve 1000 career points,” commented Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Derrek Bartz was solid at both ends of the court and Bobby Anderson was very effective defending in the post against players much taller than him.  The entire team picked up its defensive intensity the last few minutes of the first half.  That attitude continued during the first few minutes of the second half.”

The victory makes the Arrows overall record 11-3.  They remain undefeated (8-0) in Little Eight Conference play.  The Arrows travel to Henning Monday and New York Mills Tuesday.

Krosby Aasness led Underwood with 15 points.

"We played hard against a very tough Ashby team tonight," noted Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  "In the first half, we battled back and forth with them and kept it a close game and then Ashby pulled away a little more late in the second half.  Defensively we did a nice job of keeping them off balance but gave up far too many offensive rebounds.  Offensively, we just couldn't get in a flow often enough to put enough points on the board."

Underwood (1-14) will play Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday in Evansville.
